Today I created a card for theSimon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, and the Color Throwdown Challenge.
I started with a piece of white cardstock and embossed Happy Birthday using my Cricut Cuttlebug Happy Birthday Embossing Folder. I trimmed it down a bit to fit my A2 notecard. I then used Hero Arts Shadow Inks Raspberry Jam, Butter Bar, and Tide Pool to create the right color combination I needed for the Color Throwdown Challenge. I rubbed the inks onto white cardstock and then used a small round circle punch to make the confetti. I glued the confetti onto the card using Ranger Multi Matte Medium.
I used ink colored white cardstock for the stars too. I die cute the stars using the Sizzix Framelits star die. I used the second smallest star. I had two of each color. I added Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents to each of the stars. At first I was only going to use one set of stars, but the color changed a bit on my Tide Pool star after I applied the wink of stella/glossy accents. It actually was a happy accident, because I ended up using those initial stars as a background for the other set of starts.
I then stamped each sentiment (Michael’s brand stamp = Eat Cake, Penny Black Big Wish set = Wish Big, and Paper Smooches Chit Chat Set = God Bless) with black Versamark ink and then used White Tinsel embossing powder from Recollections. I got this idea from Jennifer McGuire! She is always coming up with great ideas. For the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge I used dry embossing with the happy birthday embossing folder, and I used embossing powder for the sentiment!
I am on the look out for a good clear glittery embossing powder, since I am almost out of this one. Any suggestions?
I actually made another mistake when I got a smudge of black ink on the corner of one of the stars. I actually ended up doing that TWICE!! I was getting frustrated, but then I realized I could just add a little bling and I had another element to my card!
I wrapped some Paper Studio black baker’s twin around the embossed section before I adhered it to my card base. I used foam dots to pop up the embossed part on the notecard, and used more foam dots to pop up the stars on the embossed section. I used Tombow Mono Multi Glue to attach the one set of stars to the other ones.
Thanks for stopping by! Check out the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge and Color Throwdown Challenge. There are some great projects, and I would love to see yours there too!
